UKCTAG’s Research & Policy function provides an independent, applied research capability focused on terrorism, counter-terrorism and wider security threats affecting the UK and international environments.

Head of Research & Policy — responsible for research development, evidence and policy analysis.
Research is central to UKCTAG’s ambition to become a recognised professional institute. The department exists to ensure that organisational positions, publications and guidance are grounded in evidence rather than assumption.
Its work is intended to examine emerging threat trends, terrorist methodologies, hostile reconnaissance behaviours, sector vulnerabilities and the evolving legislative landscape, including Protect Duty and Martyn’s Law.

UKCTAG’s publication process is intended to support evidence, integrity, objectivity, collaboration and public safety. Research proposals can move through ethical consideration, editorial review, independent peer review and final approval before publication.
